The
DPHA Faces-of-Our-Future Program recognizes up-and-coming influencers
in the decorative plumbing and hardware business. This program will
profile DPHA members with 10 or less years of experience. Each
month from June through October 2018, members will be inducted into
the Faces-of-Our-Future Club, and their stories will be featured in
DPHA's weekly newsletter, Connections. This week we recognize Audrey
R. Friedlander, Sales Consultant at Millers Elegant Hardware in Boca
Raton, FL.
Audrey started in the DPH industry three years ago as an
assistant to a very "seasoned" sales consultant, and within months she
was already creating spec books, working up orders, and gobbling up PK
sessions. In other words, she was hooked. According to one of her
nominators, Audrey not only successfully maintained the retired
co-worker's customer base, but has successfully built her own. Audrey
doesn't balk at going to job sites. She will make deliveries if needed,
and she continually goes above and beyond the "call of duty" for her
customers. As another of her nominators noted, "As Audrey's passion has
grown, so has her need to understand the rest of the industry. I see
Audrey to be part of our next generation."
Connections: How long have you been in the DPH industry?
Audrey: I have been working in the industry for three years now and I have absolutely fallen in love with it.
Connections: What has surprised you about the industry?
Audrey: The biggest surprise I
have experienced within this industry is how intricate and vast it is.
It's amazing how so much of what we do intertwines within the fashion
industry.
Connections: What is the biggest challenge you have faced in our industry?
Audrey: The greatest challenge I have
experienced within the DPH industry is the effects of the Internet. That
challenge has allowed me to hone in on my own values and the value of
what showrooms and the consultants can bring.
Connections: What do you enjoy about being in this industry?
Audrey: There
are many aspects of the DPHA that I admire: the social aspect, the
ever-changing trends and the opportunities for growth not only within
the industry but also the growth within myself. Being part of DPHA has
really elevated me as an individual.
Connections: Anything else you would like to add?
Audrey: I have come to realize within
the industry that creating relationships is key. I truly enjoy the
personal one-on-one experience, learning about my clients and what their
visions aspire to. This industry has also taught me the importance of
creating relationships with the people I count on the most. My amazing
crew at Millers Elegant Hardware and all the reps out there that are
always eager to help if I have a question or if I am in a plumbing/
hardware emergency. As well as the designers and contractors who
continue to support my growth and believe in me!
