The 17-in-17 Program Recognizes Tyler Petrizzi of Accurate Lock and Hardware

The DPHA 17-in-17 Program recognizes up-and-coming influencers in the decorative plumbing and hardware business. This program will profile 17 DPHA members with 10 or less years of experience. Each month from June through October 2017, members will be inducted into the 17-in-17 club, and their stories will be featured in DPHA's weekly newsletter, Connections. This week we recognize Tyler Petrizzi, a sales account representative at Accurate Lock and Hardware in Stamford, CT.

Tyler graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication minoring in Criminal Justice. Originally focused on pursuing a career in law enforcement, Tyler worked in a corporate security role immediately after college. After a few years, he was approached with the unique opportunity to work at Accurate Lock & Hardware, where he was able to follow his passion for keeping people safe - shifting his focus to the physical security aspect of homes and buildings.

According to one of his nominators, although Tyler came to Accurate Lock and Hardware with no industry experience, he dove right in and picked things up almost immediately.  "He displays confidence and passion for what he does, and his customer service is beyond the norm.  He is truly a customer service rep who cares about his customers."

Connections: How long have you been in the DPH industry?

Tyler: 4 years

Connections: What has surprised you about the industry?
Tyler: I was surprised about how tightly knit and customer focused the entire DPH industry is. On a day-to-day basis, I work with a variety of different showrooms, hardware brands, architects, etc., and it always seems like everyone is willing to help each other out and do whatever it takes to get the job done. I honestly never saw myself being in a sales role, but because of the culture and positive attitude of the industry, it's been a pretty easy transition and I enjoy dealing with different customers, their projects and personalities.

Connections: What is the biggest challenge you have faced in our industry?

Tyler: There is so much to learn in this industry. Every day I am faced with a new challenge. From building codes and specifications to design trends and general best practices, there are so many things to stay on top of.  At Accurate, we are constantly developing new products to stay on the forefront of the industry, so I'm constantly challenged to learn about new and innovate solutions that we can offer our customers.

Connections: What do you enjoy about being in this industry?

Tyler: I really enjoy working with clients, helping them solve problems and growing their businesses. I work with a great group of people at Accurate, who have the same mentality. At the end of the day, it's fulfilling that I get to provide lock, hardware and security products that help keep people safe.

Connections: Anything else you would like to add?

Tyler: Thank you for considering me for this honor.
